A New Addition

For those who haven't heard yet, the Stannix's have a brand new baby boy!
Hyrum David Stannix was born April 29th, 2011 after a VERY short 3 hour delivery.
7lbs 9oz, 21 inches long

All of us are doing well!

A few minutes old

Camilla LOVES her new baby brother!!

Daddy is excited to have another future missionary in the family.

He has huge hands and feet, and very long legs!!

He loves to suck on his fingers.

He's also pretty tough (not to mention handsome).

I think we'll keep him!!

Update from the former Hinko cousins!!

Yahhh spring has finally arrived!  Miss Mia is a fan of being outside and takes EVERY opportunity to lounge or rearrange her chair on the front porch.  She is also becoming a fan of sidewalk chalk and bubbles, last year she really wasn't into either. Check out her hilarious face below! Love it!!!
Cousin Jacey is as awesome as ever! She is getting super good on her knees, pulling up and knelling to get into whatever is her target.  She also has some really focused hand movements which is cool to see her turning pages or taking hold of something she wants. Also cute to her Aunt but not so much her parents is when she starts talking when eating. Her face gets animated and out comes whatever was in her mouth but she is trying to communicate something and usually gives a big classic Jacey smile! Love this woman!!

Cousin Kingston is still a riot!  Seriously such a blast to see him interacting with his girl cousins.  He is so boy, yet so gentle with Jacey and Amelia.  His voice is adorable, and it is fun to hear him say in his low voice "Meeeeeaaaaa" or "Pllleeeeaaasssee", awesome.  He is also a serious fan of being outside now that it is warm.  Leslie was saying recently how he had such fun on a walk with his Dad in the river valley, which she also commented it was great to get her housework done while both her men were outside.  Oh being a mother!!!  He is growing up and so handsome as the pic below shows!  Love this little man!!!
Just another pic of Mia since I am the one posting!  We were away in Cold Lake for a few days visiting Graham. This is a shot of Amelia at the dock/marina in Cold Lake.  They have a cool restaurant on the waterfront that we checked out while visiting.  Graham has been there on and off since the fall but is starting a shutdown today so will be on nights and gone until the weekend before the baby comes!  Boo!!!!  Although better now then after babe arrives.
Me at 34 weeks!  Only five more weeks to go!!  I have a planned c-section happening again so Monday May 30th at 10:30am you can think about the Polischuk's because our daughter is scheduled to arrive.  How crazy is that, that we know the day and time. Nice for planning though!! hehehehe

Big news for Mikel is that in two months he is done High School! Woot woot!!  This is very exciting and a super big deal.  We all plan to celebrate with him the end of June.  He said his grad ring should arrive any day. ohhh ahhh!!!

I have enjoyed the posts and am a fan of the recent face lift of our blog, well done! Hugs to you all!!!
~Love Jenny  also posting for (Alyson & Leslie & Mikel)

Las Vegas Pics

My handsome husband at Lake Mead

A HUGE Aloe Vera plant on the temple grounds

 beautiful temple grounds

The Hoover Dam bridge...love the hat!

Looking straight down from the Hoover Dam bridge, and
yes, Brent took the picture.  I didn't step foot on this bridge!

This is a picture of a picture of snow on the roof of the Las Vegas Temple.  It snowed
there a couple years ago and someone captured this. You can see the
Las Vegas Strip in the background.

We met Miriam at the temple.  She invited us to her home to use her
washroom and to show us a picture.  She noticed Brent's
camera and said she wanted to show us a picturre of snow in Vegas.  She graciously
invited us to her home where we met her husband, Miguel, and their three sons:
Abraham, Jacob and Edwin.  They are super friendly and we had such a nice
time with them.  I told her it was good of her to invite strangers to her
home; she said anyone that goes to the temple is not a stranger to her.

Las Vegas Temple

how beautiful and serene...

Brent and I had a great time on this trip.  We met some wonderful
people and saw some beautiful places.

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Love to all,

~Update from Aaron & Chelsey~

Well for those of you that haven't figured it out yet or heard, YES Aaron & Chelsey are having a baby. Our due date is November 13th. We are just over 10 weeks along.
We have been waiting for the right time to let EVERYONE know and waiting to make sure everything was going okay. So far everything is going good, so we figured we would let everyone know since Brent has started the threats of spilling the beans. haha Obviously he is very excited. As are we too. We are wanting to find out the sex so we will for sure keep everyone posted.
Other news, Aaron is back in Fort McMurray doing the commuting thing again. He got hired on with North American Construction. We are very excited about his new position. It's hard having him away from home for so long but we know it will be worth it in the end.
Chelsey is busy working two jobs in Red Deer and looking forward to June, as the summer will bring some well deserved time off. We are planning a trip to PEI in August for a friends wedding and planning on doing lots of camping, as we purchased a tent trailer last summer. This summer really can't come fast enough.
Hope everyone is doing well and we thought we would post a few pictures from the day we found out we would be parents. One of the best days of our lives:

We were very excited but it was very late at night and Chelsey was tired from patiently waiting ALL day to tell her husband the exciting news..

       One Happy Man :)
Chelsey wrapped up this piggy bank (It says - New Baby Fund - Save for your new arrival) in a baby sleeper and had Aaron open it up when he came home from work and thats how he found out we were having a baby.

Future Model

Notice anyone familiar?
First he made it to the inside of the booklet, but then because of his Good Looks (from the Hudkins side) and his Sparkling Personality (also from the Hudkins side), they put him on the front cover.

The humble beginnings of a blossoming career? Maybe!?

Of course Uncle Brent posted this. But this isn't the awesome news reffered to earlier! However it is pretty cool, EH?

St. George Road Trip

St. George Tabernacle.
The City of St. George got its name from one of the pioneers that setled there
under the direction of Brigham Young. George A. Smith, a cousin of the prophet and later an Apostle
was referred to as the "Potatoe Saint" because he encouraged the settlers to eat raw
potatoes to fight scurvy, a sickness that plagued the Saints.  Raw potatoes
are high in vitamin C.

Looking down from the second floor.
This spiral staircase was hand crafted with crude handtools.

This chandelier was also handcrafted from wrought iron and was very heavy.
The coal oil lamps are now electric. To fill the lamps with oil, they used counter weights
and a pulley system to lower the chandelier. The chandelier is approx. 5 feet (1.6 meters) across.

This is inside the Tabernacle.  Every Prophet, except for Joseph Smith Jr.,
stood at this pulpit. It was a special moment for us
to stand at the same pulpit as the Prophets!  Notice the organ
pipes... the air needed was hand pumped at the time.
More handcrafted designs. Sunflowers and Grapes.

 St. George Temple
If you look at the top of the temple, the round windows
were for apartments.  Notice the chimneys protruding out the top along the
edge.  This temple was the first temple completed in
Utah.  People from Salt Lake City had to travel many miles
to come here as it was the only operating temple at the time.  They stayed
in the apartments above. Do you see the Angel Moroni?  No?
That's because it is one of the few temples that doesn't have one.

The temple grounds were beautiful.

Going thru Mesquite brought back wonderful memories for me!  My sisters, Lorrainne, Linda
Louise and I went on a bus trip from Edmonton to Mesquite in 1997.  We stayed at a beautiful
resort for 8 nights and had a great time.  The cost included transportation and
accommodations for the bargain price of $50!  What a deal!!!

It took 1.5 hours to get from Las Vegas to St. George.  In that time we passed thru Arizona,
Nevada and Utah.

Brent and I had a great time on this trip.  We had beautiful weather and it
was great to see the temple and Tabernacle!

Love you all!

Secrets

So..... I've been patiently waiting for someone to make an announcement and I haven't told anybody!!! I was going to spill the beans but found out that they already knew from another source. So I think it would be best if you would officially announce the awesome news (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!). Enough people already know but don't want to openly talk about it.

Well, Grampa is now #27 on the cornea transplant list for his second eye, so we expect it will be sometime in May.  He is looking forward to having it done.

I just thought I would update you all at the same time.

Using Down Time

I know this is not near as exciting as cruisin', fun baby pictures or exciting careers but this past week while I had the flu I watched conference on the net.  Here are a few "conference-isms" I jotted down.

*  Families are like a rope, many strands woven together make the rope strong.
*  A testimony is like a living organism if tended to, it will grow.
*  Everyone has worth because we are all children of God.
*  Desires shape our priorities, priorities shape our choices, choices shape our actions, actions shape our faith.
*  The scriptures often use the word 'seek' in place of the word 'desire'.
*  (regarding marriage)  Choose your love - Love your choice!

I wrote down lots more, but I was pretty sick and can't read my scribble.

I enjoyed watching conference on the internet and was able to watch all FIVE sessions.

Love you all very much.  Each one of you is a strand that adds strength to our family rope.

Love forever,
Gramma

western carribbean

Hello family, here are some pictures from the last three stops of our cruise to the western carribbean. I can honestly say that I did not care for Belize as a port stop. We did however rent a taxi to take us to the Belize zoo. They were still suffering from hurricane damage at the zoo but all in all it was neat to see the different wild life from that country.

 Entrance to the Zoo

Emma and Camrie holding a Python

Believe it or not, this is the national animal of belize. here is some info I collected on line regarding their national animal:

Tapir (Tapirus Bairdii) is the largest land mammal of Central America. Known as the “mountain cow” in Belize, they are forest dwellers, active mostly at night as they forage along river banks and forest clearings. The tapir is the national animal of Belize. The tapir has a prehensile, long nose like an elephant or anteater, but is actually related to the horse and rhinoceros. Its general color is dusty brown with a white fringe around the eyes and lips, white tipped ears and occasional white patches of fur on the throat and chest. They feed on grasses, aquatic vegetation, leaves, buds, and fruits of the low-growing shrubs. Its long, flexible upper lip and flat molars are well suited for foraging and swallowing twigs, nuts, and other tough plant tissues found throughout river basins.

The next pictures are of Roatan. This was a beautiful island and is a part of Honduras. I loved this island and would entertain flying there and staying for a couple of weeks.

The two girls and I took lessons to learn how to wind surf. It was fun, however, we picked too nice a day and didn't have as much breeze as we would have liked.

Cozumel was a busy place! very commercialized and was a fun port for Emma and Camrie. Too many people for Janene and I.

We did a snorkle session on this island. Emma and Camrie were given the opportunity to drive the boat. (These guys just wanted to flirt with the blonde, fair skinned Canadian girls.)

Well that about does the trip we took to the western carribbean. Until next time... Adios!

Love you all,
Garth
