Oh No, Not Gramma Again!

Well, I don't know what happened last time I tried to get on here. What does it mean when it talks about mime and quick types etc. etc. I just don't know all this techno jargon.

It is good to hear how well Cal & Kenz and coach Troy have done this year. Congratulations on your wins. Your family has really made an impact on hockey in Bremerton! Is hockey finished for the year now?

Congratulations, as well, to Cass. Good Job! Not only are you a good player, but your are a GOOD GUY - which is super important. Keep up the good work!

We are very proud of all of our family. The more we talk to other people, the more I realize that we have a wonderful family to be proud of.

Grampa & I are keeping pretty busy. Michael is still here. He has about 3 or so weeks left. He has kept his nose to the grindstone and has done really well. We are proud of him. He is a pleasure to have around. Quiet, clean, tidy, gives me lots of hugs and eats everything which is always a big plus with Gramma.

This evening we had our Empty Nesters Family Home Evening activity. We went to the Telus World Science Center Imax and saw "The Alps". It was interesting and fascinating but I'd rather have Saskatchewan any day. I like to see where I'm going.

This Saturday we're having all the grandkids who are in town for supper. It will be fun. Grampa's cooking because I work at the temple in the PM. Sure hope everyone likes KD, canned ham and cold pork and beans!! ... Well no, I think we'll have him look after the roast and peel potatoes. The girls are bringing salad and dessert. It should work.

March 14, 15, 16 & 17 a bunch of us are going on a quilting retreat. Charlene, Sylvia, Jen, Alyson, Leslie & I. It's a UFO (unfinished objects) I'm taking my scrapbooking. Should get lots done in those many days. I'm getting quite excited. It will be lots of fun to be together. Too bad everyone can't be there then it would be even funner!

O.K. enough of my rambling. Grampa is already in bed.

Love you all very much.

More Hockey

Well, today the MacKenzy, Cal and I had our final regular season game. The game had a slow start, until almost the end of the first period when we scored our first goal. We scored a second goal quickly, but the other team came back with one in the second. We scored again in the first 35 seconds of the third period, making it 3-1. That is how the game ended, Putting us in first place over the team we beat. It was a great way to end the regular season.

Cassidy had his hockey awards banquet today, after playing their final game of the season last night. Cass got an award for point leader on the team this year. It was nice to see the recognition for the hard work. I have had comments from a few different people on how he is the best play maker on the team and maybe in the league. With 57 points and about 48 of them being assists, he
would rather set up the goal for some one else.

Anyway, they are calling me for supper.

Love you all, Troy

P.S. If Charlene's and Garth's family are reading this, PLEASE WRITE...... it would be nice to here from you guys and find out how things are going.

Hi everyone!

Congratulations Cal and Kenzy! Sounds like you had a good tournment! Reading your blog brought back some memories of the 15 years I spent as a hockey mom! I think the last hockey game I was at was the day Jordan broke his knee, which happened to be on his 14th birthday! He never played again...he says now he wishes he would have continued to play. Jordan mentioned to me that he is planning on playing in a men's hockey league next winter.

Everyone is doing well. Aaron and Chelsey are heading to the Dominican Republic in March to attend Chelsey's Dad's wedding. Jordan had all of his wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday so he is still recouperating. The grandkids are all doing well.

We have booked a houseboat for one week in August on the Shuswap. All of the boys, Chelsey, Kristina and grandkids are planning on joining us. Brooke was a bit concerned...she asked me if there are sharks in the lake! I told her no and that grandma will be going in the water too...that seemed to reassure her. Keisha is doing well and liking play school. Austin is talking quite a bit and says new words everyday! And at times he likes to torment his big sister! I'll send pics soon!

Anyway, that's all for now. Take care!

Love,
Roxanne

Hockey

Well, Cal and Kenzy had a hockey tournament this past weekend. We ended up in fourth place overall out of twelve teams. There was seven teams from B.C. We beat two of them in our division, and in the consolation games. Our team has really come together lately. In Fridays game Kenzy had 3 assists, and on Saturday Cal ended up with 2 goals and 2 assists and Kenzy with 1 goal. They are a very strong part of our team.

Take care,

Love Troy

Check this out!

About an hour ago I took a FEW (yes, only fourteen) pictures of the partial lunar eclipse. The dark ones are with a flash the ones that look like the clouds or sky are glowing were taken without a flash (natural light).

In Floor Heating

Well Brent here are a few answers to your questions. Yes we are putting the in floor heating on all the floors Here are a few pictures for you. As for leaks we are cementing all of our floors that is the new thing these days. We seen another house with it done that way here and we seem to like it. So we hope that will totally eliminate leaks. But if you look at the picture with the tubing all standing up in the air, that is all the ends. You run between 250 ft and 300ft of one continues tube which starts at one end and runs back to the same spot. So you hope that the only place for a possible leak is at the main values. But there is one possibility. You may run all your piping and have stapled a couple of 1000 ft and gotten almost to the end when your wife staples a hole in the pipe (with only two staple left in the gun), But the wife has a great plumber and he makes a magic fix.
Most places though run there in floor heating between the joist and put regular flooring on the floor. In the basement and the garage we just sip tide the tubing to a wire mesh. It was not hard work it just took a little time to run the piping in the right direction and get the right zones that we had wanted. Mackenzy, Pat, Cal, two girl friends, Troy and I did it together in different stages. It was quite interesting. I am sure that your brother can explain it better, and answer any other question, but we sure had fun doing it. Love Ya Nancy

The Hudkins Plow

I found this on a historical web site 1 or 2 years ago. Harry Hudkins and his wife. Apparently he used to farm, manufacture and sell plows.
Brent

A little trip down memory lane.

Thanks for the update on the house Troy and Nancy. Hopefully the rest of the family can give us an update too. I'm sure looking forward to hearing from Cal, Cass, Kenzie, Pat and Matt.

I scanned a few pics. They are about 10 - 15 years old. Big Mike, Chris, Garth and Janene with Brandon, Aaron and Jordan at a Calgary wading pool. (by the way Mike and Chris, it would be nice to see a posting from you guys, I've been trying to get my boys to post something, so far as you have seen they haven't). Remember the day we picked up Muffin at the SPCA after being just a few hours in Calgary? I think this was then, approx. '89 or '90. Also a family photo from 1992. Then a pic from one of the boys birthday. The oldest one is at Terry Jubas wedding in 1979.

Alyson, Jenny, Leslie and Mike (thanks for the christmas update) can you guys give a little update? Emma, Addie, Arland ....it would be nice to hear from you again! (thanks for the Christmas update Addie and Emma).

New House Pictures

Ok, So it doesn't seem like we got alot done lately, because we haven't. We discovered that we need this two lovely steel posts in our basement and you cannot for some reason just go and buy them here in Washington, you have to have them made. Well, after a week or so of talking with people we finally found out that the guy that Troy coaches with would make them for us. We then had to wait another week and a half to have them made. We were then able to have Troy and Cal put them in (they are very heavy). Then we were able to start with the in floor heating. This task has taken us several weeks as well as we had to all wait for the plumber to be available to help us and direct us on what to do( imagine that Troy busy!!!). With his schedule we were only able to work at night and on the weekends and then...... he got sick. So he was in bed for a few days and we were waiting for him to recoup. We finally finished and called for inspection which was then four days out. So we were then blessed with and inspector that has never seen insultarp before and is requiring specs on it. I was able to get those specs and recall for inspection again. Guess what.... they are now a week out for them to inspect, so we now wait for wednesday and hope that everything passes and we can move ahead and have a little more exciting pictures than tubes and steel pipes. Sorry for the long story but that is where we are at.... way behind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Ya All Nancy and Troy

What's Up?

Well Hi all you BLOGGERS - Or should I say BLOG READERS.

From what I hear everyone opens the blog all the time to see if there's anything new but no one puts anything on it except just a few of us!! So I will break the 'blog fast'.

Thanks, Brent, for the pictures. They're great. You are one of the diligent bloggers. Good for you. Now I just have to learn how to copy them to my computer so I can print some of them.

I have finished sorting all my pictures into 10 year spans. Execpt for the first bunch were a 40 year span. I actually downsized 3 xerox paper boxes. Good huh? You should all be grateful that I've done this much and you won't be stuck with that job.

Just now Grampa is going through Great Gramma's pictures 1900-1940 and writing on the back who the people are. You should see the difference. I have about 15 pictures from MY family and a great big pile from Grampa's side. There are lots of him when he was little. He was a little cutie! It's really fun to look at them. Next comes the batch from 1940-1950. They are quite fun too!!

I've been asked to post the recipe for the potatoes we served at Alyson & Jon's wedding reception so here goes. I love them. The jury is still out in the other half of our household. He'll eat them but they are not his favorite.

HASH BROWN POTATOES
aka: Southern Alberta Funeral Potatoes

1kg.bag Hash Browns
2 cans Cream of Chicken Soup
1 can Milk (I use more because I like a them moist)
2 cups Sour Cream (generous cups)
Salt, Pepper & onions (to taste) I also used Lawry's & garlic powder
1 to 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Corn Flakes

Heat soup, milk, sour cream & spices. Mix with potatoes & grated cheese. Pour into greased pan. Sprinkle with crushed corn flakes that were mixed with a little butter.
Bake at 350 for about 45 min. or until bubbles well.
Serves 10 - 12 depending on appetites.

Experiment - they're good.

So there you have it. Enjoy!

Hope to hear from you all soon.

Love,
Mom/Gramma

New Presidency

For us this has been a week of change.

I'm sure you've all heard that our new Church Presidency is President Thomas S. Monson, Henry B. Eyring is First Counselor and Dieter F. Uchdorf is second counselor. What a dynamic presidency this is! They are, all three, such great speakers. I look forward to hearing from them in the April conference.

We also have a new Stake Presidency. We have President Melvin Wong, and his counselors are Brother Rolfson and Brother Oliver - also a very dynamic trio.

I always like seeing the pictures on the blog. Enjoyed the pictures of the great grandchildren. Thanks for putting them on.

Love,
Gramma

Something to Ponder

Here is a great quote to ponder: "I don't care how much power, brilliance, or energy
you have, if you don't harness it and focus it on a specific
target, and hold it there, you're never going to
accomplish as much as your ability warrants."

Something from Great Grandma Christena

As I was going through pictures and albums, I came across the following in one of Great Gramma Hudkins' albums. I think I'll keep it and scrapbook it with the rest of her pictures.

Saints and Sinners
When some fellow yields to temptation
And breaks a conventional law,
We look for no good in is makeup,
Oh Lord, how we look for a flaw!

No one asks "Who did the tempting?"
Nor allows for the battles he's fought
His name becomes food for the jackals,
The saints who have never been caught.

I'm a sinner, O Lord, and I know it.
I am weak, and I blunder and fail,
I am tossed on life's stormy ocean
Like a ship that is caught in a gale.

I am willing to trust in thy mercy,
To keep the commandments thou'st taught.
But deliver me, Lord, from the judgement
Of the saints who have never been caught.

How true this is. Let's not any of the Hudkins family be caught being the "JUDG-ER"

Love to you all,
Gramma

PS: I'm having a blast going through all the pictures - but OH WHAT A LOT OF WORK THERE IS AHEAD OF ME.
